Beyond the Hiccups: Reflections from the NHN Meet & Greet in Singapore
In November 2023, Marvgallup had the honour of planning and executing one of our most ambitious international gatherings yet the NHN Meet and Greet in Singapore. With over 100 incredible women flying in from various parts of the world, the vision was clear: to create a space of connection, celebration, sisterhood, and inspiration.
As a team passionate about empowering women through meaningful experiences, we poured our hearts into planning every detail from flights and hotel logistics to curated itineraries and welcome surprises. The city of Singapore, with its vibrant charm and cultural depth, felt like the perfect backdrop for what we hoped would be a memory of a lifetime.
The Vision: The event was designed to reflect the spirit of NHN elegance, excellence, and empowerment. We envisioned a safe space where women could not only connect with one another but also be refreshed, encouraged, and reminded of their inner strength and worth. From networking brunches to sightseeing tours, from intimate devotionals to fashion showcases — the goal was to create more than just an event; we wanted a transformational experience.
The Reality Check: As with many large-scale events, things didn’t go entirely according to plan. From flight delays and unexpected changes in logistics to some clients being temporarily stranded — we faced more than our fair share of challenges. There were moments of pressure, frustration, and genuine concern — for our guests, for ourselves, and for everything we’d worked tirelessly to organize. We are not blind to the shortcomings — and we don’t shy away from acknowledging them. Some aspects could have been better handled, and for every glitch, we learned powerful lessons about communication, contingency planning, and real-time support.
The Grace in Growth: But in the midst of it all, something beautiful happened: we pulled through — together. Clients extended grace, support systems formed among women who had just met, and our team worked round the clock to course-correct. We adapted, adjusted, and stayed present — because for us, the women came first. In the end, many guests left with smiles, memories, new friendships, and powerful moments of reflection. It may not have been perfect, but it was real. And sometimes, that’s where the deepest growth lies — in the messiness, the honesty, and the commitment to always do better.
What We Learned: Every event teaches us something this one taught us many things:
• The importance of transparent and consistent communication
• How vital backup plans and flexibility are in international logistics
• The value of humility and accountability in leadership
• And most importantly: that women rise, together even when things don’t go as planned
